Mandate of a Developmental Local Government
Developmental local government derive its mandate from various legislative prescripts, more supreme of them being the RSA Constitution of 1993 (Act No.108 of 1996), Chapter 7 Sec 151The latter section sums up the responsibilities of a developmental local government. In addition to the Constitutional mandate, the following legislations also further elaborate on the mandate of a developmental local government:
	White Paper on Local Government (1998)
	Local Government: Municipal Dermacation Act, 1998 (Act No.27 of 1998)
	Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act No. 117of 1998)
	Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, 2000 (Act No.32 of 2000)
	Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No.57 of 2002)
	Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, 2003 (Act No.56 of 2003)
	Municipal Property Rates Act, 2004 (Act No.6 of 2004)
